UCF Stuns Alabama - The Washington Post
Javier Beorlegui kicked his fourth field goal of the game--from 37 yards with three seconds left--to give Central Florida a 40-38 victory yesterday over mistake-prone Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
It was errors through the air that killed the Crimson Tide (3-5). The Golden Knights scored four times off interceptions of Andrew Zow.
In only their fifth year in Division I-A, the Golden Knights (6-3) swarmed the field as time expired at Bryant-Denny Stadium, where they were supposed to play the part of homecoming patsy.
Instead, it was Alabama players who sat on the turf in disbelief at a promising season turned sour.
The loss could further erode support for Coach Mike DuBose, who led the Tide to the Southeastern Conference title last year but has faced calls for his job as Alabama's season has crumbled.

After Alabama fought back from a 31-24 deficit in the third quarter, Zow threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dustin McClintock with 2 minutes 24 seconds remaining to put Alabama ahead 38-37.
Central Florida got the ball at its 21 and Ryan Schneider went to work, completing 7 of 8 passes to take the Golden Knights to the Alabama 20. Beorlegui jumped in the air and hugged teammates as the winning kick sailed through the uprights.
* CALIFORNIA 28, USC 16: In Los Angeles, California's Jemeel Powell scored on an 83-yard punt return in the fourth quarter and the Golden Bears (3-5, 2-3 Pac-10) sacked Carson Palmer seven times. Kyle Boller threw two touchdown passes for the Bears.
Sultan McCullough rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans (3-5, 0-5), losers of five straight for the first time since 1991.

* TEXAS TECH 45, KANSAS 39: Kliff Kingsbury threw four touchdown passes to Derek Dorris to spark the visiting Red Raiders (6-3, 2-3 Big 12). Dylen Smith ran for three touchdowns for Kansas (4-4, 2-3).
